There are many programs for registering Environmental Product Declarations (EPD). The oldest one is originally from Sweden but already present in different countries: The International EPD System. In Brazil, it is called EPD Brasil and managed by Fundação Vanzolini. EDPs can also come with Climate Declarations. Further more, there is also IBU (Institut Bauen und Umwelt e.V.) from Germany, oriented to the building sector and programs from Japan and USA.
This type of Environmental labelling requires an LCA study so products can bring in detail the environmental impacts related to each of its components in its packagings. Guidance and other recommendations are available on Product Category Rules, aiming to harmonize assumptions, concepts and models.
